We all know that eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise is the key to successful weight loss. However, whenever you open a celebrity magazine you are no doubt going to read about the latest celebrity diet fads.
There have been hundreds of these diets over the years, many of which could potentially be dangerous.
Here are some of the more popular celebrity diets:
#1 – The Grapefruit Diet
The Grapefruit Diet has been around since the 1930s and was used by Marilyn Monroe.
This diet basically involved eating half a grapefruit before each meals in the belief that the fruit would help burn fat due to an enzyme found within.
#2 – The Liquids Only Master Cleanse Diet
This diet made popular by Beyonce for her role in Dream Girls involved her surviving purely on liquids.
Drinking a mixture of lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water for 14 days supposedly helped her detox.

Rumour has it that Renee Zellweger fills up on ice so that she does not have to pile on the pounds with solid food.
#4 – The Watercress Soup Diet
Liz Hurley has revealed in the past how she would regularly eat just 6 cups a day of watercress soup in order to lose weight for a role.
As well as being low calorie, the watercress also acts as a diuretic too.
#5 – The Air Diet
This diet, which Madonna is supposedly a fan of involves holding food to your mouth but not eating it.
Instead you are solely surviving on water and salt soup.
#6 – The Placenta Pill Diet
When Mad Men star January Jones gave birth she had her placenta dried, crushed and put into pills that she could take in order to lose weight.
#7 – The Victoria’s Secret Angel Diet
As you might imagine runway models such as Adriana Lima may not be huge fans of eating, particularly in the days on the lead up to a show.
This diet however is extreme and involves not eating any solid foods, instead you will be surviving solely on protein shakes, supplements and vitamins.
#8 – The Five Hands Diet
Ex Spice Girl Victoria Beckham is apparently a fan of this diet, which involves eating just 5 handfuls of high energy and high protein foods every day.

Although this diet has some nutritional benefits it is a little strange too.
It involves eating a wide variety of fruits and vegetables across the colour spectrum, however you are only allowed to eat a certain colour each day, for instance only white foods on a Monday.
Christina Aguilera is said to be a fan of this particular diet.
#13 – The Cabbage Soup Diet
Unsurprisingly this diet involves eating as much cabbage soup as you want along with various low calorie fruits and vegetables.
Ex Buffy star Michelle Gellar is rumoured to be a fan of this low calorie diet.
#14 – The Grapefruit Oil Diet
Jennifer Lopez is rumoured to be a fan of this diet that involves sniffing grapefruit oil in the hope of the aroma triggering enzymes found in your liver to start burning calories.
#15 – The Macrobiotic Diet
The diet, which Gwyneth Paltrow has announced she is a fan of involves eating a strict vegetarian meal plan with grains as the staple food.
You are not allowed any processed or refined foods, nor are you allowed animal products.
Just because you have seen the weight loss results of these celebrity diets in the magazines does not mean that you should try them yourself.
You need to remember that most of these celebrities have a team of fitness trainers and nutritionists surrounding them to make sure they are always in peak condition.
You should also remember that these images you view in the magazine are likely to be photoshopped so are not a true representation of these people.
If you were to view these celebs close up you will see that they are just like you and me, with flaws and their own beauty hangups.
Sticking to a healthy diet and working out 2-3 times a week is the best way to lose weight and to keep the weight off long term.
Forget faddy extreme celebrity diets, they are not worth risking your long term health for.
