We all know how difficult eating healthily or dieting can be over the holidays. This can be especially difficult around Easter time with the temptation of a chocolate egg around every corner.
With the following 5 tips you can give yourself a better chance of your diet surviving Easter:
Tip 1 – Plan to do things that make you feel good
If you want to avoid the temptation of chocolate then you need to find a way to take your mind off it.
By doing a fun activity that involves some sort of exercise you will be able to increase your heart rate and release those feel good chemicals into your brain.
This activity does not even have to be a sport as there are plenty of things you can do, perhaps you could go for a relaxing walk or visit a local tourist attraction.
As long as it distracts you from those unhealthy temptations then it will be good for your diet.
Tip 2 – Focus on something that isn’t chocolate
If you have children you will know how much fun can be had with an Easter egg hunt, yet you can still have fun looking for Easter chicks instead. Furthermore you won’t have to consume all those unnecessary calories.
You could even give out fruit as a treat as well, apples, raisins, bananas are all good options.
Tip 3 – Stay focussed on your long term goal
When temptation arises you need to ask yourself how this would affect your long term goal.
If you thought that each Easter egg would cause you to gain a stone in weight there is no doubt in my mind that you would not be tempted to eat it.
Tip 4 – Stick to your portions
If you really must eat chocolate or one of the many other treats this Easter then you need to remember to exercise portion control.
Although they are not the best food to be eating, the occasional treat will not harm if you only stick to a small portion.
What will derail your diet however is if you are unable to control your urges and binge on these unhealthy snacks.
Tip 5 – Enjoy being around your family and friends
Having a fun time with family and friends will not only serve as a distraction, it can also release those feel good chemicals that are often released after eating chocolate.
Easter is a time for fun but with these simple tips there is no reason why you cannot continue to lose weight on your diet.
