5 Afternoon Habits That Are Making You Fat

It is important that if you are trying to lose weight that you keep to your efforts right through the day.

Any lapse in concentration, or spell of overindulgence could result in the rest of your hard work going to waste. So what habits should you try to avoid? Are there any afternoon habits that are making you fat?

#1: Indulging in an afternoon dessert

So what if you exercised already, you should not reward yourself with food, especially not a dessert that has probably got 2-3x the number of calories that you burnt off.

The occasional treat or cheat meal wont do too much harm, but if this is a daily occurrence then chances are you wont be achieving your weight loss goals any time soon.

#2: Eating those leftovers

It is easy to be tempted to eat those leftovers, especially if it is leftover cake or something you know you should be avoiding.

You must try and be strong though, as too many of these indulgences will ruin your weight loss efforts entirely.

It maybe hard, but it is probably best that they are thrown away.

#3: An afternoon nap

The first thing I will ask is do you really need an afternoon nap? If you are not a toddler then probably not.

To burn more calories you need to be moving, so even if you have a job that involves sitting by a desk for long hours you should make an effort to move.

Even standing at your desk while you work is a better idea and better for burning calories than being sat all day.

#4: Eating too late

Eating healthy is just part of the equation, you also need to make sure that you are eating at the right time too.

Research has found that if you eat too late (after 3pm) you are less likely to lose weight as it can negatively affect your metabolism.

#5: The afternoon coffee

While coffee, or should I say the caffeine that it contains can boost your metabolism resulting in more calories burnt than normal if you drink too much coffee this can affect your chances of achieving your weight loss goals.

Too much caffeine consumed too late can cause insomnia, with the lack of sleep leading to hunger cravings and fat storage.

Also, if you tend to add sugar, cream or milk to your coffee then they additional calories will soon add up too, negating any benefits experienced from the increased metabolism.
