5 Habits to Help You Beat a Food Addiction

#1: Keep a record of your progress

Some will say that weighing yourself everyday is pointless, however for those who suffer a food addiction then it could be helpful as you will know exactly when changes need to be made.

Keep a food diary and write down not only what you eat and drink, but also your weight everyday.

Doing so will enable you to look back over the diary to see if any changes are needed in your diet.

Another benefit of keeping a food dairy is that it can help keep you motivated as you will be able to see just how far you have come in your weight loss journey.

#2: Eat a healthy breakfast every day

If you want to start losing weight then you need to eat breakfast, and I don’t mean a fry-up or other unhealthy breakfast.

Skipping breakfast will only leave you feeling hungry around mid-morning, which is bad news for your weight loss efforts as you will likely grab something unhealthy to fill the gap.

To avoid these food cravings I would suggest eating a breakfast full or healthy protein and fibre.

Food AddictionThis is because they are both filling and are slow to digest, so will in essence keep you feeling fuller for longer.

Eating breakfast will also give your metabolism an early morning boost, which is important as this is what enables you body to burn off those all-important calories.

#3: Exercise daily

There are some of us who will find excuses not to exercise, with a lack of time a common excuse.

However, if you are serious about losing weight then you will need to start.

Once you make the decision to exercise daily it will soon become a habit that will be hard to break.

You do not even need to exercise for long either. Just 10 minutes of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) should suffice.

#4: Get some support

We all need a little help and support from time to time, so make sure you talk to a friend or family member the next time you encounter a problem.

The worst thing you can do is suffer in silence. Chances are that just ignoring this issue will not solve anything, and could result in you failing to achieve your weight loss goals.

#5: Plan ahead

You may have heard the saying “fail to plan, plan to fail” before, and it is true for many aspects of your life, including weight loss.

If you want to successfully lose weight then you need to be prepared for any issue that arises.

For example, if you have a dinner at a restaurant coming up then you may want to look to see what they have on their menu and the number of calories the foods contain.

Doing so will help you to choose accordingly and plan your other daily meals too.
