8 Tips to Help Beat Sugar Cravings & Lose Weight

#1: Drink water before a meal

#2: Cut sugar from your breakfast

Sugar-rich cereals are not a good idea for breakfast if weight loss is your goal.

Sugar is quickly digested, which causes a blood sugar spike. Unfortunately when this falls you will suffer further cravings.

I would opt for a fibre and protein-rich breakfast instead, as it will be slower to digest so will keep you feeling full till lunch.

#3: Cut out fruit juice

Fruit juice is almost pure sugar, as it has had most of its fibre content removed.

I would opt for whole fruit instead.

#4: Slow down the rate you eat

It takes 20 minutes for your brain to realise that you are full, during which time you may consume many more calories than you need.

To slow down the rate you eat you should put down your cutlery between mouthfuls, chew thoroughly and perhaps have a sip of water between mouthfuls too.

#5: Have a healthy snack between meals

Instead of reaching for a sugar-filled chocolate bar when you are feeling hungry, opt for a handful of nuts instead.

The nuts are a good source of protein, which will keep you feeling full until your next main meal.

#6: Use portion control

Sometimes you just can’t resist the temptation of certain foods, but if you use a little portion control you can indulge without it affecting your overall efforts too much.

#7: Don’t eat before bed

Chances are if you eat just before bed you will end up waking up feeling even hungrier.

Try to eat your least meal at least 2 hours before bed.

#8: Read those labels

You will be surprised just how much sugar is found in certain foods.

So to avoid any surprises you need to make sure that the next time you are in the supermarket buying your weeks shopping that you check those labels.
