4 Ways to Get Out of a Diet Rut

4 Ways to Get Out of a Diet Rut

If you want to be successful at losing weight then many of the experts will recommend eating a healthy diet.

Unfortunately this often means that you will be stuck with a boring, uninspiring menu that you will be unlikely to stick to.

To be successful you need to find a balance of health and enjoyment, otherwise you will never succeed. Below are 4 ideas to help you get out of a diet rut:

#1: Eat clean

Instead of choosing a restrictive diet that does not allow you to eat anything, what about trying to eat as clean as possible?

What is eating clean though? Well, basically you should try to cut processed and packaged foods from your diet. Choosing to eat fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, whole grains and low-fat dairy instead.

With this diet you wont be restricted with what you eat, and as long as you eat clean around 80% of the time then you should see good results.

#2: Meatless Monday

If your everyday diet consists of a chicken breast with steamed vegetables then after a while you are likely going to become bored.

TofuTry mixing your diet up a bit, perhaps have one day a week where you avoid meat altogether.

Perhaps you could look online for some recipe examples of meals made using vegetable protein like:

  • Tofu
  • Legumes
  • Eggs
  • Quinoa

#3: Browse Pinterest

Pinterest is a great place to look if you want to browse for healthy recipes for pancakes, burgers or whatever it is that is currently taking your fancy.

If you are stuck in a diet rut then finding a healthy alternative to your favourite foods is going to enable you to treat your craving without it affecting your efforts.

#4: Cheat

Sometimes it is better to just allow yourself the occasional cheat meal rather than deny yourself.

If you deny yourself too long then the cravings will become too much to handle and you will inevitably fall off the wagon.

When this occurs you could potentially ruin all your hard work gorging on those unhealthy treats.

Would it not be better to have the occasional treat to keep your cravings at bay?

Just remember that as long as you are eating healthily for the majority of the time then this should not affect your progress, that is unless you fail to treat yourself in moderation.
