While you are pregnant it’s crucial that you don’t completely cut out any of the major food groups. This is what a lot of the most popular diets ask people to do, and it’s not healthy.

Each food group serves a vital purpose. For example, cutting out carbs is dangerous, especially when you are pregnant because you will be lacking in energy.

You can however, cut down on foods that have little nutritional value such as cakes, biscuits, crisps and other foods that are high in sugar and fat. Try and eat these types of foods in moderation. There are also some foods that should be completely avoided during pregnancy because they can be harmful to your baby.

In summary, dieting whilst pregnant should be avoided. It’s a time when you need to be at your strongest.

A lot of diets can make you feel weak and deny you vital nutrients. Don’t make any major changes to your diet while you are pregnant such as completely cutting out a food that you usually have regularly. Maintaining a healthy, varied diet is the most sensible thing you can do.
