With Thanksgiving well and truly over you may be counting the cost of your overindulgence.
Yet never fear with these simple detox tips you can give your energy levels a boost, leaving you feeling rejuvenated.
#1: Drink some lemon water
If you want to detox then it is best that you avoid that usual morning coffee you use to give yourself an instant energy boost.
Instead make yourself some warm water with some lemon to give your digestive system and therefore your metabolism a little boost.
This lemon water can also help to flush the toxins from your liver.
#2: Have some green juice
To give your body an increase in vitamins and nutrients that it might have missed out on over the Thanksgiving period drink some green juice.
It is best to make your own using fresh organic ingredients, or to buy from a bar that uses similar ingredients.
#3: Use a body brush
Using a body brush will not only help exfoliate your skin, but can also help to improve your circulation while helping detox your lymphatic system.
If you do not own a brush then you can use sea salts as an alternative.
#4: Take time to meditate
It is important that when detoxing you not only cleanse your body but also your mind.
Negative thoughts can cause stress, which can lead to excess cortisol being produced by your body. This in turn can lead to food cravings and other issues.
Reducing stress through meditation or yoga will reduce this cortisol production, ensuring you are able to detox more effectively.
#5: Cut out the gluten, dairy, sugar, alcohol and caffeine
During Thanksgiving you probably overindulged with the gluten, dairy, sugar, alcohol and caffeine, which can lead to a build up of toxins within the body.
The easiest way to remove this build up is simply to cut them out of your diet for 5-7 days to give your body chance to remove the toxins on its own.
Of course the above tips will help give your body a detox a little faster but if you do not change your diet then you will be fighting a losing battle.
