Have you made a New Year resolution to lose weight? If so then good for you, I wish you well.
Unfortunately many people make this same resolution every year, but fail to make it out of January.
The truth is that weight loss is difficult, but luckily for you there are a few weight loss resolutions that are easy to keep.
Read on to see how making these few simple and easy changes to your lifestyle could result in some pretty impressive weight loss results.
#1: Don’t skip breakfast
Skipping meals is not a good way to lose weight.
What will happen is that mid-morning you will be too hungry to resist those high-calorie snacks so will likely over-indulge.
Instead choose a breakfast full of both protein and fibre to help keep you feeling full until lunch.
#2: Choose smaller portions
Instead of cutting out all of the foods you love, perhaps a better idea would be to eat smaller portions of them.
An easy way to cut portion sizes would be to use a smaller plate, giving the illusion that you are eating a large portion.
#3: Drink more water
If you are a fan of soft drinks then chances are you are consuming many more calories than you should.
Even those diet options are best avoided, as it has been shown that the artificial sweeteners they contain lead to cravings for sugary foods.
Instead opt for water. It is completely free of calories, and has been shown to curb your appetite, especially when consumed before a meal.
#4: Be more active
Of course it can be tempting to join the gym at this time of year, but unless you are going to go regularly then chances are you are going to be wasting money.
Besides you can get a good workout in the comfort of your own home. Have a browse of Youtube and you will find hundreds of potential home workouts.
What you do throughout the day also burns calories, so try walking more instead of using the car.
#5: Bin that unhealthy food
If you have got junk food around your home then chances are you will be tempted by them.
To avoid this temptation getting the best of you I would suggest either throwing these foods away, or better yet donating them to the local food bank.
#6: Find a friend to workout with
Working out with someone else will motivate you to workout harder, this is because you will both be able to push each other that much harder.
Being able to talk about any issues you encounter can also help with your weight loss efforts. Remember a problem shared is a problem halved.
#7: Cut out white bread
White bread is made from highly processed flour, which has very little nutritional value. It is also quickly digested, resulting in further cravings.
Just cutting out white bread can save you loads of calories daily. Opt for whole grain alternatives.
As you can see these weight loss resolutions are not too hard to stick to, but can help ensure you see some pretty good results.
