10 fun ways to lose weight

I know counting calories and the same boring exercises in the gym can be tiresome yet losing weight does not have to be boring.

Here is a list of 10 fun ways to lose weight that you could use to try and put a little fun and excitement back into your weight loss efforts.

#1 – Jump rope

A jump rope is an extremely fun and cheap way to burn off calories and lose weight.

Just make sure that when you are working out with the jump rope that you stand up straight and keep your ab muscles tight.

10 minutes a day can make a big difference to your endurance and those numbers on the scales.

#2 – Dancing

It is not surprising that dancing is an excellent way to lose weight that is also fun to perform.

Just put on your favourite tunes and dance around your house.

#3 – Hula hoop

Using a hula hoop is a fun and unique way to lose weight, with just 10 minutes enough time to give your abs, shoulders, upper back and chest a good workout.

They are also cheap to buy so you can workout in the comfort of your own home with very little expense.

#4 – Frisbee

If you have a friend looking to lose weight at the same time as yourself playing frisbee can be a good way to burn off those excess calories without even realising it.

Throwing and catching a frisbee can be an effective form of cardio so should not be dismissed easily as just a bit of fun.

#5 – Limbo

Doing the limbo can help stretch your core muscles, keeping them flexible.

You don’t even need to buy any special equipment as you can perform the limbo by setting up a broom between two objects.

Just remember not to go too low to begin, practice a little first to avoid injury and the more often you try the more flexible you will become.

#6 – Jumping jacks

You must remember these from school when your gym teacher would make you and your school friends perform them.

Jumping jacksWell, the jumping jack is a great exercise as it can get your blood pumping while working out your legs, arms, stomach and back.

It can also be performed anywhere without specialist equipment so there really is no excuse why you can’t do a few every day.

#7 – Boxing

Even without owning a punch bag or boxing gloves you can work up a sweat by simply throwing punches or ‘shadow boxing’.

Try different combinations of punches to give yourself a great workout. It is also a great stress reliever, which will also benefit your weight loss efforts.

#8 – Running

Although pounding away on the treadmill for hours is certainly not fun, if you take your running outdoors and somewhere scenic then it instantly becomes more fun.

The scenery will also serve to distract you from the running itself, which may help you to run that much further than normal.

#9 – Yoga

Yoga can make a huge difference to your flexibility and your waistline.

If you are a beginner there are plenty of DVDs you could buy to try, which you may want to try with friends or even your kids if you have any. As they will find it fun too.

#10 – Cartwheels

Although not everyone will be able to perform a cartwheel, those that can will be able to stretch and strengthen their muscles while undertaking a fun activity.
