Scam report: Garcinium

Scam report: Garcinium

Whenever a weight loss ingredient is featured on the Dr Oz Show sales of supplement containing the said ingredient usually increases ten-fold. Such was the case with Garcinia Cambogia.

Unfortunately despite being proven to aid your own weight loss efforts there are those who have not been impressed with their choice of supplement.

For example those who have signed up for the ‘risk free trial’ of Garcinium have ended up paying more than they originally expected.

So what is wrong with Garcinium, lets look at this supplement in more detail to see what the issues are.

Claims made by Garcinium

The following claims have been made on the Garcinium website:

  • 100% guarantee
  • Dissolve fat from your body
  • Lose belly fat
  • Lose between 20-40 pounds without having to change your diet

To be honest these claims seem a little unrealistic and I would be wary about trying any supplement that claims to help you lose as much as 50 pounds without making any dietary changes.

Even if true any weight lost will soon return once you stop using the supplement, which is why you should always make changes to your diet and get regular exercise alongside the use of a supplement to ensure you not only lose the weight, but also keep it off.

Ingredients of Garcinium

Each Garcinium capsule is said to contain 500 mg of Garcinia Cambogia, with no fillers or binders. There is no mention of the percentage of HCA present.

Although claiming to be ‘the finest Garcinia Cambogia available’ this is doubtful as you would expect to see how much HCA is in the formula.

Also, 500 mg is a little low as there are plenty of alternatives available on the market with as much as 1000 mg of Garcinia Cambogia per capsule.

Cost of Garcinium

The biggest issue with Garcinium is its cost as although you may believe the trial is free this is not the case.

Signing up will cost an initial £5.99, but shockingly after the 14 day trial period has elapsed you will be charged £89.99 or $99.99 if you are in the US/Canada.

You will also find that every month thereafter you will receive another package of Garcinium with another hefty bill.

Is Garcinium a scam?

The payment terms of Garcinium are hidden away in the T&Cs, which as you know no one ever reads.

Those who sign up for this trial are no doubt going to feel aggrieved at having to pay so much and are likely to call this product a scam.

Contact details for Garcinium

  1. My wife had placed an order for the trial package priced at USD5.99. She recently found out that there was an additional charge of USD99.99 made to her card. We have sent several emails to the link provided but yet to get any response from them. How could they do this to innocent people?

    • Hi, me and my boyfriend also had the same problems. Are there any refunds for this? i tried emailing the company but to no response.

      • I received the first shipment at £5.99 and immediately cancelled my subscription. A week later, I received an email saying it was cancelled and no more money would be removed. A week after, a further payment of £89.99 was taken and no shipment sent. Contacted my bank and got all further payments stopped but still can’t get a refund. I’ve emailed every day with no response, even called the number listed above but the mailbox is full (wonder why eh!) and can’t take any more messages. This isn’t a scam, it’s theft, and should be dealt with as such. I’ve also reported it to BBC Watchdog to sre if they can help us all

        • when you called your bank and stopped the payments from coming out did that work? did they stop coming off of your card? because i dont want this to happen to me, and now im scared it will screw up my credit because this is clearly a scam.

          • I contacted my bank after reading about someone being debited for much larger sums. They told me it is not the same as a direct debit and the only wY to stop further payments was to report my card lost or stolen. The bank put an immediate stop on my debit card and issued a replacement card with new number. These companies play on our insecurities and desperation to lose weight. It’s disgusting that they can get away with it. More should be done to raise awareness of these so called online offers. Are these endorsements of the products by celebrities genuine ? If they are, we should let them know exactly what we think about them profiting from these scams.

          • I had same problem, today I checked my credit card and 2 purchases of 99.99 were charged and I have yet to receive anything from this company not the trial nor the package for 200.00.
I advise you to close your credit card and get another through your bank.

          • Go to your Bank and tell them that you’d like another Card and cancell this one, as you’ve lost your Card. No questions asked and you don’t have to be scared of money disappearing out of your Account. Or just tell them the truth, but sometimes a little white lie works quicker.

          • I had to cancel my card and get a new card .

          • I’d been using my brothers visa debit at the time and when I’d put all my details in I kept getting a page saying the card had declined. But I knew something was off since there was money in the account. ANYWAY, month later, $119.99 has left the account with no notification about it when I originally had only applied for the free 30day trial which I was only meant to pay for shipping. 40minutes on the phone to nowhere getting nothing sorted and 10minutes on the phone to the bank to cancel the card. More annoyed that I trusted the website because woman’s health magazine promoted and shared the links to the scam. I sure as hell wont be purchasing anything online again :/

          • I have had similar experience, but never received goods to send back. The company seems to give different addresses. Here is yet another one that I shall be passing to the police fraud squad on ActionFraud website. PostBus 14, 4054ZG Echteld, Netherlands.
I informed my bank as soon as the payment of £89.99 was discovered having been taken. My bank is monitoring my account and blocking any future payments. Also good idea to have the card changed.
The police told me they are monitoring this company, and other companies linked to it.

        • This has happened to me as well. there is no contact phone number. the latest shipment came from China. I’m sending it back by registered post – expensive but it might help

I’ve had similar problems, they emailed me back a month later to explain they would stop the auto-ship programme and then charged me on the same day for another full priced product that I did not want. It is theft as they’ve taken £182.97 (that’s the full price for two products and payment of one shipment which they claimed to cancel) off me and I haven’t even used the product and have returned it.

I have emailed them several times but no response! This was a can and theft if they do that with the money I didn’t even use the product can’t be trusted after that.

Obviously they are trying to wriggle out of repaying me but I’m going to stick with it. If you want me to forward what they sent me, I will happily do so for you. Hope you have some luck with this.

        • I live in New Zealand and my credit card had been billed before I had even received the trial product and now another NZ$119.00 plus NZ$5.99 for delivery was charged to my account on the 4th of May.

I emailed them on the 30th of May and have had no response.

I will try again and in the meantime I will also contact my bank and try to cancel the payment. If they can’t help, I will stop my credit card. (thanks for the tip).

This is a fair warning for me never to trust this type of offer again in the future.

I never even got the product to try it – if I even had that I wouldn’t feel so bad about them taking another €89.99 from my bank account. Any address or phone numbers would be most helpful. I feel like such an idiot, I had put on a bit o weight recently saw add for this and taught happy day! then after ordering free trial, read reviews, nearly died!!! such a fool, rang my credit card immediately, but taught they were looking down their nose at me, and asking did I read the terms and conditions, which by the way where not even displayed on their website was a tiny link at bottom or page, anyhow I haven’t even received he sample yet, but when I do will be sent back by registered post, but am afraid they will debit my account, how did you get on after?? thank Laura

          • Hi, I ordered mine from amazon a trusted company, no contractor agree to just place an order and they are cheaper. As for the pills themselves they do work, started losings weight within a week of taking them.

        • Hi Hazel, I have been scammed too, just been to bank and discovered two payments gone out for £89.99 each. Have informed bank and they are to stop future payments. I have used the product (to no avail) so cannot return. I need to contact them to request refund. If you could send me the response you got that would be a great help. Can’t believe I fell for it. Going to write to watchdog too, to report.

I paid the 5.99, I live in NZ and have just tonight gone to pay me credit card bill and found FOUR payments, within 2weeks, for $199.99, all with different names (Garcinium, SC Super Detox, Cleanse Health, Calorie Down). Phoned my bank, they said this is happening heaps, and even once cards are cancelled they can somehow still occassionally get payments out. It’s disgusting. If anyone can tell me who to contact to cancel the supposed thing I’ve accidentally signed up for, PLEASE tell me how! Gutted.

          • Suzi I also live in NZ and got ripped off twice by these rogues – I feel so STUPID but am horrified how many other people are in the same boat! – I had the names B Slim & Slim Plus used for my 2 unauthorised debits – I e-mailed them at “support@garcinium.com” several times and have finally had a reply – basically saying “tough- you agreed to the terms & conditions” – which I didn’t. I am going to persevere and send the pills back even though it is past the 30 days and demand a refund until I get it hopefully. If not at least I will feel like I have tried my best!

As my internet connection went down in the middle of completing the forms I rang the ActionFraud line up and a very helpful police officer took my details and gave me a crime number. I now have another address in the Netherlands that I will be passing to the fraud squad and I believe they pass to Interpol.

At this stage no other money had disappeared from my Account, maybe because when I buy things on-line I have a special Debit Card just for that purpose and I never have any money in there except for about $20 float, but before I order anything on-line I transfer enough money to cover what I have bought, this way, just let them try to take a large amount out without me knowing.
Maybe you can get one too from your Bank.
I used to use Credit Card, but it got hacked and took so much money out, which the Bank did re-inburse, but it gave me such a shock, that I thought there must be a better way.
Sofar I have not had a problem with my extra Debit Card.
      Hope this helps.

Exactly 14 days later the £89.99 had been taken out of my account.

They gave me the number for Retail Disputes 0845 3660391 who have put a stop on all transactions although they cannot retrieve my money. I also have number for trading standards 0845 4040506 but cant see this helping, but will try. As you can see from above comments the company do not respond and so you are wasting your time trying to contact them.

Ive sent them back to an address in switzerland which was on the box, Ive also sent an email advising that Garcinium are frauds. a further payment of £89.99 was taken out then another one so thats £269.97 owed to me now I understand from the bank that even though I asked them to cancel any further payments they have been unable to do so as garcinum change there name to get payments out. I have now cancelled my card so no further payments will come out. I should of done this to start with. IF ANYONE IS READING THIS DO NOT TAKE UP THE OFFER.

  6. I placed the order last night and was charged the $2.99 and $5.99. I only read about the scam after and felt completely foolish. I read the privacy and policy statement and what they do for the cancellation. It has a lot of little rules that if aren’t followed you get charged $99/month. So for all of you out there, you need to ship the product back to a specific return address in the Netherlands and provide your cancellation within 10 days of the next one. I have already cancelled my VISA that I put the product on reporting it lost. I am hoping that will cancel any future payments. If not I do have my e-mail I sent them as proof of cancellation which I can then send to VISA if needed. I feel like a complete idiot. I never fall for these things and I will never again.

Both addresses sound like Post Office Box numbers.
I shall be passing this second address to the Fraud Squad via their website ActionFraud.
Suggest everyone informs the fraud squad for their country and informs their bank’s fraud department. Apparently this company goes under several names.

  7. I just purchased this SCAMMING product today. I was so excited about the Risk Free Trial, until I read the terms and policy and realized it was a complete scam, I was unaware that after I receive the supposed free product I still need to pay for the product in full after 14 days, and I did NOT know that I was automatically enrolled in the program where they steal my money every month until I die. I am so mad.. I wrote them a Cancellation the same day I purchased it, so I am within the cancellation time frame so they won’t charge me 99 dollars and additional charges. I am calling my credit card company as we speak so I can report fraud and send evidence of my cancellation, and if they don’t honor it then they have breached their contract. I am so mad too.. I will never order anything online. thanks to these low life thieves out there that ruin it for the rest of us.. I am so MAD..

I sent emails and they reply but always saying when you return the product they will refund it. I cant get it through their heads that I havent received it so how can I return it.

    • Yes I received an email to confirm my cancellation 8 days after I sent a request to cancel but was still charged £89.99 regardless. Even though I requested the cancellation on the same day that I purchased the so called no risk free trial. eBay all the way from now on.

      • SAME HERE! I sent them a cancellation email the same day I “mistakingly” ordered the product. I say “mistakingly” because at the confirmation page after reading all these negative reviews, I clicked on “no thank you” and the payment was processed anyways. Luckily I was able to get reimbursed the $2.99 I paid. Than they finally emailed me back 10 DAYS after stating that my cancellation was confirmed but I was still charged $99.99 until I return the product. I didn’t even ever recieved the product until yesterday which marked the 15th day and I sent it back immediately. I’ve sent them atleast 4-5 emails and was only responded once! Now my bank opened a claim to investigate, I serioulsy hope I can get the $99.99 back.

Garcinium Pro. ive had to lodge a fraud complaint with my bank, cut up my mastercard. block access to my own bank account and have now reported it to scam watch. i then sent this so-called Garcinium support team a very strongly worded email telling them exactly what i think of them. bastards.

No product ever arrived, although I tried to contact via the ‘support’ address they gave. The company might be staying one step ahead of officially being a ‘scam’ – but when it is impossible to contact them, makes them one in my book.

I had the same experience as devastated Aussie mum above. It takes so long to see where the money went.

Rang overseas number and was told to press 1 to cancel subscription and then was cut off straight away. Rang back again and pressed 2 to speak to someone and then got a message saying there is no more room to leave a message. Rang a 3rd time and pressed 1 continuously and still got cut off. I’m so mad. I’m a low income earner and had a similar thing happen couple of months ago when buying something from online my details just automatically went onto some other weight loss website. I weigh 55kg i dont need these products and i’m furious that they can skim off other websites like this. Ive raised with my bank but there goes the only $100 i had to last me the next fortnight. FUCK CHINA and they’re SCAMMERS. Next step i’ll be taking is with the financial obudsman to recoup money and get website taken down for good. Also have a friend who can track back cookies, lord help them if i can actually get real details for the bastards. The other shonky website that tried this was called Rasberry Ketone. After an abusive email they had the sense to refund my money.

  20. Hi, if it can help, I wrote them and I told them that I would take legal action against them if they didn’t refund me and I got an answer the following day (email : cancellations@garcinium.com & cancellations@supracleanse.com). This is what they answered me :

We have received and processed your request to cancel the Garcinium and SupraCleanse Auto-Ship program. You will no longer be receiving our products each month.

Please remember when you placed your order, you agreed to the terms and conditions as stated on our website. The terms and conditions state that if you do not cancel you are required to pay for your order after a trial period of 14 days and if you would like a refund you must return the product within 30 days of ordering. If you can meet these conditions you will receive a refund after payment is processed. Without exception, we are not able to refund products received after 30 days of the initial order date.

We do however, recognize that it can be difficult and costly to return items ordered online, and that you may have already used a substantial portion of the product. In consideration of this, we will offer you a 50% discount to keep the order without the requirement of returning it. If you agree to this, you will pay just £45 for your order of Garcinium. If you would prefer to take advantage of this convenient option, simply respond by email within 14 days of your original order, stating you would like to use the 50% discount.

If you prefer to return your order please ensure we receive it within 30 days of your initial order. If we do not receive it within this time, we will not be able to offer you a refund or ship the product back to you. Please note that your payment will automatically be taken on day 14, but this will be refunded if we receive the product within the 30 day limit. In order to identify you correctly please include your name and address including postcode, and your email address in the envelope. We strongly urge you to use a recorded delivery service so that you have confirmation of timely delivery.

Write all this on the outside of the envelope and send it back to:

    • I got the exact same email! Prior to charging my credit card, my bank called me to confirm that I had ordered! Luckily I did not have the funds on that card to cover the charges, so they were unable to proceed. I sent them a message threatening legal action if they continued to attempt to bill my card. (they tried twice, the bank called me twice). I then proceeded to cancel my credit card and have the bank reissue it. They then sent me the above … I went back to them and told them I refused to pay for a product that I had never received and it was them who were doing the false advertising (ie 14 day trial.) and cancelled immediately. Their scam works like this. You order,,,they do NOT SEND the product until the 14 days are up…so most people have not tried therefore do not cancel obviously within the 14 days. Because you did not cancel “within the 14 days” they bill you!!! Once they bill you, they send the product (or so it seems). Don’t know if anyone ever got a 2nd shipment from them (that they were supposedly billed for)

  21. Hi After ordering the Garcinium and Supracleanse trial I saw the information you nice people had left on this great website. Realising I had been scammed I immediately sent cancellation emails to cancellations@garcinium.com and cancellations@supracleanse.com . After this I called my bank and explained the situation and they cancelled my Visa Debit card and replaced it with a new one with different numbers.
I then sent these emails again every day for the next 5 days. I also called their cancellation number 31 20 8084781 3 times. Each time press 1 for English then as you attempt to leave your information a voice says mail box is full and hangs up. On the 6th day I sent all records of the emails and phone calls to my bank as evidences and requested they not allow this company access to any of my accounts ever. On the afternoon of the 6th day I received the following cancellation emails from Garcinium and Supacleanse. Best of luck hope this helps.

      • Hi Chabz. It would appear so. I also sent copies of their cancelation emails to my bank as proof of the cancelation. I think you should do much the same. Call your bank and tell them you unknowingly signed up to a auto renewal free trial scam. Make sure you send cancelation emails to the email address’s I stated along with your order details and keep typed copies of the sent emails as evidence to show your bank if necessary. Once you cancel before the 14 day trial is up the bank will not allow them to take your money. However you should still cancel your credit or debit card for one with new numbers. That cost me $10.00. My bank does not expect me to have any further problems. All the best.

The next morning they took out $107.30 that afternoon they took a further $119.99. After contacting my bank my debit card was stopped and the fraud management from my bank has taken on my case. After a further look into it there had been 3 withdrawals of $10. Plus they had tried 18 times extra on top of this to withdraw money but declined due to insufficent funds. They are so clever the transactions where hidden from my statement, and have bank accounts all over the world so impossible to catch out. I am a solo mother with a 3 month old baby and am on a state benefit. Feeling low in my mood after gaining a lot of weight I thought I’d try this. How wrong I was. These people are so cruel. • There is a simple way to prevent this type of scam. Open an ISA, keep you money in the ISA and do an online transfer from there to your current account when you want to buy anything. This is how i do things and even though i do a lot of online shopping i have had no problems so far. If you buy anything that requires continuous payments make sure it is paid via direct debit, getting your money back under the direct debit guarantee scheme is much easier. If you see anything for sale on a website simply Google it and see any reviews before you buy. Good luck all for the future.

  32. I also paid $5.99 postage for Free Trial Sample. My credit card was charged for an additional $109.99 2 weeks later, even before my ‘free’ sample arrived 3 weeks after ordering it (it was supposed to come in 4-5 days). It was sent from Taipei in Taiwan, whereas the advert mentions postage by United States Postal Service. The bank withdrawal says GBR (Great Britain). There are 2 addresses given in the literature, one in Canada and one in Holland.

I lodged a complaint with my bank for an unauthorised deduction from my credit card. They could not reverse the charge, but would look to see if it was fraud. Two weeks after the first $109.99 withdrawal another 2 deductions were made, for $5.99 and $109.99. Again I complained to the bank and they cancelled my card so no more deductions can be made.

So, two payments for product I did not order and have yet to receive, and one supposedly ‘free’ sample which I will not be trying – who knows what’s in it when it has come from such a shonky company. I have since read the Terms and Conditions and they do not make sense. There was never any mention of having to refer to the T&C in their adverts. This company should be reported, but would the police be interested?

Was advised to record the confirmation number(s) and note who the agent was by name. If your card is charged the 99.00 then the credit card company has the info that they need to provide a refund. This only applies if you cancel the order in the 14 day time period. I read the T&C and also copied down the info from this section and it is all fraudulent too!

  45. Hey everyone,

I have read all your comments and I am sad to say that I have fallen victim to this scam also. I’ve been lucky though, only having copped one $109.00 fee before cancelling my card (20/20 says I should’ve done it when I cancelled my order).

I have been on their website again and have seen there is a comments section.

I propose that, if possible, we inundate their comments feed continually so that 1. we can stop others from befalling the same fate from these arseholes and 2. hopefully we can crash their site.

I’m going to post everyday and see what happens… feel free to join me!

  46. Hello,

I was also a victim. I just have a question though, by the time that you reported to your bank to cancel your credit card was there a chance that the $99.99 that was deducted was given back? Or can we not pay that amount?

  48. Hey guys,

The same thing has happened to me… I bout the trial bottle for $5.99 and 14 days after that realised that $109.99 was debited from my account. i let it go thinking that it was only going to be a one off thing, but have now realised that a further 2 x $109.99 was debited. I am going to my bank today – i feel sick in the stomach – bloody scum bags!! i have sent them several emails about it but of course no reply. I hope my bank can sort this out!! Does anyone have a contact phone number for these bastards??

  49. Another victim here. Just received my credit card statement today and 4 lots of $119.99 deducted. I have reported them to my credit card company. When I finally received my 2 measly samples, I knew straightaway that I was conned. The packaging is totally amateur and it was sent from China. There were no T&Cs. Absolutely gutted. Lesson learnt the hard way. I could’ve used the money on a personal trainer!! 🙁

Yep and im a uni student. This is ridiculous. I have sent them several emails and no response. I have contacted my bank and now fair trading of Australia. I know i wont and most of us will not receive our hard earnt money and savings back. Though I do hope these scammers really get their fair share of karma. Praying on people like they have. 52. Hi all,

Yes also scammed, whilst I admit that I am the mug for paying with a CC rather than debit card, what I am having most trouble with is understanding how and why the Banks continue to let these people charge peoples credit cards with unauthorized amounts, surely the Bank has to accept financial responsibilty for the Merchants that it recruits??

  53. Gutted.com This scam has sent me overdrawn and given me extra bank charges. Awful situation to be in!

Emailed cancellation address and nothing. My bank have thankfully stopped any more payments coming out but not sure I will see the £200 this company stole from me and my family.

The bank knew about these scams when I rang so how come they allow these companies to take funds off people. I swear there were no terms and conditions to advise they would do this.

Feel like a right plum for falling from this but they used Woman’s Health magazine to promote it so I trusted it a little more. Turns out Woman’s Health didn’t and that was a scam too.

To add insult to injury I have research Garcinia to find you can buy the pure fruit product in local supermarkets called Mangsteen.

  54. Feel sick.
I ordered thier “risk free trial” unfortunately to receive the trials of Supracleanse and Garcinium for me and my partner, making 5 orders.
Only realised the severity of this when i saw they had taken £571 from me the last few days.
Not exactly sure where I stand with this, my bank will not push them for a refund as they say I entered my details onto their site and made the order and did not cancel within the cooling period, and should contact the merchant direct.
I have not contacted the company, and I very much doubt they would refund any of the money they have taken from me. Have cancelled my card, and blocked them from making transactions on my account again.
Not sure what I can do, genuinly feel like a fool.

Confirmation email was received immediately together with one for Supracleanse which I had not ordered. Only then did I see term & conditions & the £89.99 cost for each. Sent off cancellation emails straight away but from these posts realised this was futile. Rang my CC company straight away who told me that there were 2 pending transactions for £2.99 I told them to dispute any further payments from these companies. they said there was no need to cancel my card but not to worry as any other charge would be disputed. Have sent off further cancellation emails & saying copies sent to my Cc company.

This is a total scam!!!! I have never received the products despite ordering them 21 days ago.

I emailed them to say I hadn’t recived any products before I went on holiday (8 days after placing my order) but then 2 days later whilst away, £180 was taken accross two transactions. I have emailed them 5 times and tried to call and still nothing!

I would return the product via recorded delivery if I had them so I could get the 50% refund offered in their terms but i don’t have anything to return. There must be a larger governing body whom we can report them to as my bank has just said they have had loads of calls regarding this company over the last few weeks!!!

  70. The same has happened to me. Can’t begin to tell you how foolish I feel. I didn’t even realize there was a problem until yesterday when I saw my credit card statement. These people have taken four payments of $99.99 from my account. I had only just received the two “free trial” bottles of pills last week. I have not even tried them because on seeing the product I became a little concerned.
I have had no luck trying to contact the companies, both telephone numbers or email, and after reading all of these reviews now I don’t expect to.
I contacted my bank yesterday and the chap I spoke to told me there was nothing they could do because the free trial was refering to the order ‘Risk Free Trial order’ NOT the product itself.
On reading these reviews I then called my bank again today to report my card as stolen because I was so scared that more money would be taken. I spoke to a much more helpful person and ended up telling him the whole story. He has blocked my card and reported the problem to the Fraud Department, he was so kind and helpful. I have printed copies of all communications, all my emails to support@garcinium.com, cancellations@garcinium.com, support@supracleanse350.com and cancellations@supracleanse350.com.
I hope these unscrupulous, wicked people are stopped, it makes for a very unhappy world when nasty people like this gain from others especially when it is for a product that is obviously targeting a very sensitive issue to many.

Do not ship this product ever, and return my money ($99.99 + $99.99+ $5.99) immediately. I did not knowingly authorize you to charge my Visa until if, or when, I decided to keep using this product. I have not received anything except the initial sample, yet you are still charging me. This is outrageous! I do not want to use this product as it does not work, but especially because of your abhorrent business practices. I have contacted my Visa card issuer regarding this situation.

It’s been a month and I still have not heard back from them. There must be something we can do to shame these horrible people in public and get our money back.

  75. Yes, I have been stupid as well, my son (20 years old) has pointed this out to me several times! To be serious, I read all these other comments on Sunday 22nd June and decided to cancel my Visa Debit card and get a new one, as up till then I had only been charged the initial £2.99 postage fee (twice for the Supercleanse 350 and Garcinium) I only received the Supercleanse 350 and didn’t do anything about finding out why the other product had not arrived until after the 14 day cancelation period was over as I just forgot(I think that’s one way they get you). I e-mailed them to ask why it had not arrived and did not get a reply. I then looked into it properly, and realised it was a scam, and emailed both companies to cancel them, but having looked at my bank account today, I too have been charged £89.99, even after I had cancelled my visa debit. I have spoken to my bank and they have kindly put the money back into my account, and also refunded the £2.99 postage for the Garcinium that never arrived. They are now dealing with it on my behalf, and will block any incoming requests for money from them. They have had hundreds of their customers calling with the same problem and have made a point of looking into the company. The only advice I can give you all (apart from don’t sign up in the first place!) is to email a cancellation letter to them a.s.a.p, preferably before the 14 days are up, this is the reason that my bank refunded me, as I have proof that I cancelled by email. If you don’t they are apparently within their rights to charge you for the tablets as it states in their terms and conditions. Get the bank to block further payment requests. Also ring Trading Standards 0845 404 0506, I did and they are well aware of this company, the more complaints, the more ammo they have to stop them. I do feel for you all, and I don’t think that this is the end of the matter for me either. This is fraud on a massive scale.

The company was called Radiancy and these people were American I think, with a correspondence address in England. The advert that took me in was in the margin of my e-mail page, so I think that aol and bt yahoo and the rest should vet them before taking their payment for swindling adverts!

Spoke to a police officer who took all the details and gave me a crime number. The police and Interpol know about this company and are trying to gather as much evidence as they can so everyone report your experience to ActionFraud.
Today company emailed me to say my subscription has been cancelled. They quoted yet another address based in Netherlands. Here it is but I think it is a PO box and fictious. PostBus 14, 4054ZG Echteld, Netherlands. I am passing this on to the Fraud Squad as they have asked me to pass on any further information I may receive. Wow!!! That’s all I can say. I’m so sorry to all of you people out there that this horrible company took advantage of. Might I suggest to you that if you want to make online purchases then go to walmart and purchase a prepaid card. Load however much money you need to on there and pay for your online purchases with this card. There’s no reason why this card shouldn’t be all you need to make a purchase. I have made legit purchases online with my prepaid card and everything was fine. I hope everyone can get their money back and soon. For anyone yet to be charged, if you see these posts just shut the account down you paid for it from immediately, not just your card because they can apply to Visa or whoever you are with to find out your new details and still get at your account. Yes it’s a bit of work and it has taken me all morning to sort and rearrange other direct debits BUT that is so much better than £100+ being taken from your account without your permission, even if you email them to opt out. It sounds like much more of a hassel to get the money they take reinbursted than to just nip it in the bud immediately. Also thank you to everyone on here for getting me in the know otherwise I would have lost out to them as well!!!!!

  103. DO NOT TELL YOUR BANK YOUR CARD WAS LOST OR STOLEN

Same thing happened to me, two lots off £90 debited from my account even though I cancelled THE DAY i ordered literally minutes after making the order because i had a weird feeling about it. Didn’t even realise till last night it was a scam and that they were debiiting me thought I had just lost out on the shipping fee.

Went to my bank today and told them everything. Don’t be embarrassed they are professionals and were incredibly helpful about it so they are never going to say anything to embarass you.

They immediately cancelled my card and said a new one would be shipped in 3-5 working days. They then put me through to the fraud and disputes department who because I explained what had happened were able to give me a full refund immediatley! They only said that I would lose the refund if the company disputed it which I highly doubt a scam company will.

They also said that just cancelling my card doesn’t mean that they might not still be able to access my account and take money. This is why I advise you tell your bank because they have put a block on these companies and are monitoring my account for any fraudulent activity. Because they have set this up if the company does somehow manage to take money I will be entitled to a full refund immediately.

I really reccomend you explain the situation to your bank asap so they can help I had a sleepless night worrying about all my money being taken but I can now relax again.

Don’t bother going to these scumbags for help or refunds they certainly won’t. They only replied to my email about cancelling 20 days after I emailed them first.

2 days after I’d received the goods I got a txt from my bank saying I was over drawn. I phoned the bank and was informed the company had also taken 2 payments of £89.99 (Total £179.98).

I have been charged €2.99 x 2 for delivery and nothing else so far I have emailed the company and have received no response I did not even realise it was a subscription until after I put the Order in nor did I want the second product I don’t recall seeing anything about that – Felt really stupid but phoned Bank very helpful. Bank have put a stop on transactions to and from the company but said they can try and take money for months/ years so they have told me to cancel card which I have done no further money will be taken they have assured me. They have advised me that they will try and get the €5.98 back but I’m not too bothered thank God I stopped the card in time before the other amounts were taken. Bank told me absolutely loads of people caught by this they are trying to contact the company. Luckily I used a Visa Card so you have some protection I would say to everyone to email the company cancelling the subscription and send a letter to your bank advising them and enclosing the email cancelling the subscription and tell them to cancel your card/ account immediately.

  106. Hi I also sent for the trial only to find that they have taken £372.00 from my account, have contacted my bank and sent the goods back please someone tell me how I can get my money back?

  107. I have now had 4 payments in 10 days of £89.99 each. without receiving the goods and need to cancel a.s.a.p. as it has caused problems with my bank account big-time.
To take monies out before goods are received AND to take delivery charges for non-delivery is the lowest of all.

  108. I have also been scammed for 2 payments of $119.99 each.
Asking my bank to look into the matter.

  109. Hi guys,

I have been scammed too. I cancelled my card right away and ordered another one. Is there a way of getting together something so that this company cannot keep doing this to innocent people? I am angry at myself for ordering online too, as usually it is something I do not do.

  110. To those who have received the trial, have you tried the pills?
I am sitting here with both the garcinium and the colon cleanse wondering whether i should try it
    or could it be dangerous?

    I am confused?

Also I received the trail 2 weeks after i ordered it long after my due date. I called my bank and cancelled my card. was told to call back once i receive the new card to dispute the $109.99 AUD that was taken.

  111. I’m confused . Most Australians on here say that the amount taken was $109.99 .mine however was 3 payments of 113.99 every 2 weeks .. Serves me bloody right for not checking my statements more often. now I have the inconvenience of no credit card while they replace it and have to go through the dispute to get the money back … Not happy …

  114. I’ve just found out that I too have been scammed and having paid for what I thought was a free sample is nothing of the kind and a few days ago a payment of £89.99 has disappeared from my account. Having rung my bank’s Fraud Dept. I have been advised that because these criminals have my details they can take money out of my account every so often. My bank advised me to call an organisation called Retail Disputes on 0845 3660391 who will take steps to block any future payments without having to cancel my card. They operate within normal working hours so here’s hoping..

You will no longer be eligible to receive our products monthly hence no charges to your account from this point onwards.””” And nothing was except shipping and handling… BUT on the 1 August they took money from credit card and again on the 8 August. 119. I can’t believe the way this company operate is in any way legitimate. We need to act somehow not only to protect ourselves, our bank balance but to stop others from facing the stress we have had!

I was going down with a flu virus and after reading a news story online noticed this article on Garcinium! Obviously it was linked to this website and STUPIDLY I fell for the cheap trial! I had no clue how much it was going to cost. I didn’t read the small print.

Luckily I went back.online and searched for Garcinium, and this page came up. I was able to phone my bank who said they couldn’t do anything about the trial charge, but because this scam was known to them, they could put a stop on future payments. The bank say if the company manage to get another payment in, that they the bank “will reimburse me” now I’ve reported it. And they’ve also cancelled my card too, because of this company! There are many people getting scammed by this company and the banks should be aware of it.

I’ve emailed the company to say I do not want any more from them, to cancel any agreement they think they’ve made with me. I also told them my bank has blocked future payments.

I will report this to trading standards when I’m better!

    • I cancelled the order within the deadline. Have sent various emails and phoned Holland and left messages after being debited 2 x £89.99 from different references on the same day. I blocked future payments but couldn’t get a refund from bank. I haven’t received any goods. Today I found they had deducted same again using another account! Again I have sent emails and telephoned Holland. This disgusting I cannot afford this, don’t know what else to do! Someone must be able to help get our money back!

  122. I had the same thing happen to me so I contacted my bank – they were fully aware of this scam and advised that they had received a lot of calls about this. The girl I spoke to was lovely and she explained that i did not have to cancel my card and that they would put an alert on my account if anything came out.
I then emailed cancellations@garcinium.com and support@garcinium.com every 30 minutes saying i wanted to cancel any future orders. I received this email this morning

We received and processed your cancellation request.
Please note that you will no longer be eligible to receive any further Garcinium Program Benefits.
    Sincerely,
    Garcinium Customer Service

Just be relentless with them and they will eventually reply to your emails. I am hoping this is the end of it now! I will never fall for anything like this again!!

I have now since contacted cancellations@garcinium.com and plan to phone them. Do I have any come back on getting my money back?? I am going to phone my Credit Card company tomorrow to see if they can cancel any further transactions. Can’t believe they can do this.

Anyone had any joy getting money back & if so how they managed it??

    Thanks

  126. I fear I have been taken for a fool as well. I would like to thank all, for the information given on this Forum as it has been very helpful to me. I have instructed my card provider to stop all future transactions. Below is what I’ve sent to Garcinium. I left a message on their phone as well, (+31 20 8084781). I have also reported it to the BBC Watchdog. Just hope for the best I guess!

Below is the Email I sent to cancellations@garcinium.com

    Accounts or whomever it concerns,

You have taken €89.99 from my account on three separate occasions in August, without my knowledge or known consent. I need for this money to be returned to my account immediately. In July I signed up to pay you €2.99 only for a FREE trial. I have received three 500mg bottles which I can return to you upon your request, they are unopened and intact.
As this is such a large amount of money taken in such a short time frame, I am assuming that this is a result of an Accounting error. I would never knowingly sign up to any slimming product that would cost so much money and I had no idea that this money €269.97 would be taken from my account. Please do the right thing and refund my account to the full amount immediately. I have never used this product and don’t wish to use it. Please don’t send any more products to me. This matter requires your urgent attention. I trust your understanding and await your prompt refund.

  127. Hi guys,

Don’t give up. I got a full refund of £89.99 from MBNA (visa).

I too fell for this scam. I however was completely scammed. I stupidly followed a link on a Facebook article at 2am (which explains my mistake), the website looked professional had a link to dr oz etc, so I thought at £2.99 why not. I am adamant there was no T&Cs, I was only made aware of a subscription, when I paid for £2.99 P&P and it took me to another product, something about bowel cleansing?! I then emailed the said company immediately and said if this applicable to my product I was not interested and wanted it cancelling with immediate effect.

Despite this email and receiving an automated reply from them stating I needed to click to confirm order (which I didn’t) they still sent the product.

I explained the above to the cc company and at first they fobbed me off with t&c online, but when I looked this had nothing to do with the company I bought from nor could I find the website.

Eventually, the fraudsters replied saying my subscription would be cancelled. Something like 30days later, but they expect us to receive a product, try it and return within 14days, which was said on some T&Cs.

Remember, if you have paid by cc, this isn’t your money and the credit card company are liable for giving their money to scammers. Visa et al are becoming more aware of these guys, so hopefully others won’t get scammed.

Good luck all, I know how distressing it can be.
