In a poll conducted by the travel agency Sunshine.co.uk, the holiday destinations that cause the most weight gain have been revealed to the public.
2,328 UK adults were polled, with 44% of all those asked stating that they had gained weight during their holiday.
2% stated that their weight had remained the same, while surprisingly just over a quarter of those asked stated that they had lost weight during their holiday.
The poll also discovered that the average amount of weight gained during the holiday was 9 pounds.

How to prevent weight gain on holiday?
With the summer holidays fast approaching you may be taking steps to lose weight in preparation for your holiday, but how can you maintain your weight loss while away, and perhaps even lose a few more pounds?
Here are a few tips that could help to prevent weight gain on holiday:
#1: Be active
If you want to avoid gaining weight while on holiday you must try to resist the urge to laze by the swimming pool during your entire stay.
You need to burn off the inevitable calories you are consuming, so perhaps go for a walk to see the scenery. There may even be a gym available if you feel inclined.
#2: Eat at normal times
To avoid overeating you should try to stick to your usual mealtimes, rather than eating continuously throughout your stay.
#3: Watch what you drink
Soft drinks and alcohol are full of calories that contain very little nutritional content. It maybe boring but it is best to avoid them completely, or at least try to drink them in moderation.
#4: Choose healthy foods
This may seem like an obvious tip, but when you are away it can be tempting to overindulge, especially when you see all the different meals available to you.
If your hotel is serving a buffet then try to choose the healthiest foods available.
Of course the occasional treat wont harm, but eating junk food every mealtime will surely have an effect on your waistline.
