It may seem as though every year ex pop star Kerry Katona sells her weight loss story to the glossy celebrity magazines.
Well, now she is back again having lost an incredible 2 stone since Christmas.
So how has the former Atomic Kitten managed to lose these pounds? Read on to see how she dropped 3 dress sizes.
She has changed her mindset
The first thing that Kerry Katona did to lose this weight was try to learn to love herself, which she could only do by changing her mindset.
In an interview with OK! magazine, Kerry stated:
“This isn’t about my body, this is all to do with my mindset. I could be a size 14 and feel great.”
She tried a different exercise regime
Her new exercise regime includes CrossFit, with workouts involving intense cardio workouts, alongside weight training.
Those who perform CrossFit are encouraged to perform a variety of different exercises including running, swimming, squats and deadlifts, as well as various gymnastic movements.
Her diet improved
As well as her new exercise regime, Kerry has also made big changes to her diet too.
Out went all forms of sugar, instead her diet now consists of plenty of the following foods:
- Lean meats
The aim of this new diet is that it helps “support exercise but not body fat”, which basically means that this new diet is designed for fuel rather than indulgence for the sake of it.
In the past she has undergone a variety of different faddy diets, with varying degrees of success.
She has cut her alcohol intake
In previous interviews where Kerry has spoken about her weight issues she has often blamed her alcohol intake:
“I blame alcohol – all the sugar gives me a booze belly.”
Unsurprisingly her new diet approach has led to her cutting her alcohol intake. Choosing to completely cut her intake during the week, and only allowing herself to drink when she goes out on the weekends.
She has increased her protein intake
Kerry has launched her own range of products, with many consuming protein, so we can safely assume that her protein intake has increased while she has undergone her latest transformation.
Increasing your protein intake is a good idea when attempting to lose weight as it is slow to digest so will help keep you feeling fuller for longer.
If you are active like Kerry, and undertake weight training then the protein is also important to help repair the damaged muscle fibres.
This can speed up recovery times between workouts and help you to build lean muscle, which in turn will help increase your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), or your ability to burn more calories even when you are at rest.
While it is obviously clear to see that Kerry Katona is happy with her current weight loss results, we only hope that she is able to keep this weight off long term.
We certainly do not want to see another story in a few months how she has regained the lost weight. Yo-yo dieting is certainly not a healthy lifestyle.
