Dogma and Clerks director is well known for his more rotund figure, particularly his role as Silent Bob in a few of his films.
However, it looks as though he has made a conscious decision to lose weight looking at a few pictures of him at the latest Comic Con promoting his latest film, Tusk.
At a Q&A session he eventually revealed his weight loss secrets:
“True story: on Tusk, I learned how to lose weight WHILE making a movie. The secret is to not eat sugar and stand all day. I never sit behind the monitor: I’m always moving now.”
“I’ve been wearing a Jawbone bracelet and using the UP app to count my daily steps and every day this week, I’ve averaged 12,000. That’s close to walking 5 miles a day. I NEVER walk 5 miles a day EVER. So while I stand there every day making this weird little movie with my kid and her friend in it, I’ve been quietly cutting pounds in the process.”
“This is why I’ve been stringing so many movies together lately: filmmaking, for me, has proven to be an excellent exercise regiment.”
While these weight loss tips are simple and are obviously having the desired effect, there are other ways that you can lose weight.
While cutting sugar is great, you should also think about cutting back on the processed junk too. As this not only contains sugar, but also high levels of salt and fat, which will not be helpful for any weight loss attempt.
Instead try to eat a healthy diet full of fresh fruits and vegetables, along with plenty of lean protein as this is slow to digest so will help keep you fuller for longer while also being the perfect fuel for building lean muscle mass.
This protein is perfect for when you visit the gym, which you should do at least 3 times a week.
By lifting weights you will be able to burn off fat, while building muscle that will also aid your efforts. Muscle after-all helps burn more calories than fat even when resting.
The final tip is to drink plenty of water, not only to keep you hydrated, but also as it contains zero calories and will also help flush out those toxins that prevent weight loss.
