Although you will find various articles online saying how doing the housework can be a good form of exercise, I have my doubts.
Folding the laundry or doing those dirty dishes are unlikely to be burning many calories and if like so many other people out there like the occasional snack while doing the housework any calories burnt will be for nothing.
With the following tips perhaps you could make the housework that much harder and start to see the benefits around your waist.
Tip #1: Weigh more
If you can find a way to weigh more (perhaps through the use of ankle/wrist weight or a weighted vest) then you will have to use more energy simply moving.
Simple tasks like taking the clothes upstairs to put away will be made much harder and you will burn off some of those excess daily calories.
Just be careful not to overdo the weight, this can increase the risk of injury.
Tip #2: Stay cool
There is recent research that suggest that the colder the room the more calories you will need to burn to keep you warm.
Turn down the heating or best of all knock it off completely while you do those household chores.
You can keep warm by putting more effort into these chores, while burning calories and saving money too.
Tip #3: Take deep breaths
By taking deep breaths you will burn off more calories than shallow ones.
In addition, taking a deep breath can help to relax you, therefore relieving stress that can lead to comfort eating.
While these tips are useful for around the house while doing your chores they are also a good tip for other times in your lift too. For example when you are traveling.
Just remember that these tips can only take you so far, you still need to be eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise.
Cut back on the junk food and takeaways, instead eat a diet full of fresh fruit, vegetables and protein.
Increase your water intake to cut cravings and to flush out those toxins that cause weight gain.
Finally, workout 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes, which you can do in the comfort of your own home if you choose. You do not need to buy an expensive gym membership to lose weight.
Taking control of your weight is important to avoid the risks associated with being overweight or obese. Don’t put it off any longer, now is the time for change.
