Although you know the health risks of being overweight you may believe that losing that excess weight cannot be done cheaply.
Well, this could not be further from the truth as it is possible to lose weight on a budget just by using the following tips:
Tip #1: Walking
Although you could spend money on a monthly gym membership there are still plenty of ways that you can get exercise.
For example walking is a great way to burn off those excess calories without too much cost.
You may want to invest in a good pair of shoes, but once bought these should last you months if not longer.
A brisk walk done a couple of times a week ensure you burn off hundreds of calories.
Tip #2: Lifting weights
Again you will find plenty of machines and free weights in the gym but by investing a small amount on your own set of dumbbells you can perform many of the exercises in your own home.
There are also body weight exercises that you can perform too, such as push ups or lunges that will give you a great workout.
Training 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes has got to be better for your long term health than sitting in front of the TV screen.
Another benefit is that weight training will help to build lean muscle, which will help you to burn off more calories than fat, even when resting.
Tip #3: Nutrition
Although processed food tend to be cheaper to buy than the fresh healthy ones this does not mean that you have to buy them.
Processed food is full of sugar and fat so are not going to help with your weight loss efforts.
Look out for special offers, or visit a local farmers market where you may be able to get some great savings.
One of the best options is to grow your own fresh fruit and vegetables, which will require a little effort, but again this is a great way to burn calories too.
If you have the space you could even get a few chickens, which will provide you with fresh eggs too.
It is important that you do not let the expense of losing weight become an excuse. Weight loss is not complicated, eat less and move more.
If you cannot afford the gym then there are alternatives, just remember that being overweight could severely limit your quality of life so now is the time to change.
