Your emotions are often tied with how you look, which is why sometimes being able to love yourself while losing weight will enable you to see better results.
Most certainly, if you are having negative thoughts then your chances of experiencing the weight loss results you would expect would reduce.
Read on to discover some methods you can use to keep self-loathing at bay, which will help keep you feeling strong throughout your journey.
#1: Make your choice
If you want to love yourself then you need to make the choice to do it.
Whether you are a size 10 or a 20, it is your decision to love yourself, no-one else’s.
#2: Clear the negativity
It may take a while to remove those negative thoughts, but with time it is certainly possible to change your mindset into a more positive one.
#3: Change how you think about exercise
If you think of exercise as work then you are likely not going to enjoy it, let alone do it consistently.
However, those who exercise regularly are more likely to be slimmer and healthier.
Try to enjoy exercise, perhaps find a different form if you are not enjoying what you are doing.
There are so many options available that there is no reason why you can’t find something you can enjoy.
#4: Stop judging your food choices
Allow yourself to eat all types of food, even those that you think are ‘bad’ foods.
Denying yourself your favourite foods is going to leave you resenting your healthy food choices, which will lead you to quitting your efforts.
#5: Love your body as it is
You can still love your body and lose weight.
This just means that you should lose weight for the right reasons, not because someone has told you that you have to, but because you want to.
#6: Lose those negative body image triggers
These come in the form of social media and magazines that say that you should look a certain way.
As above you should make the decision to lose weight for your own reasons. Not because a magazine says you should be a size 10 or whatever.
#7: Watch out for your friends
There are certain friends who are not supportive and will often judge you. If you want to love yourself then it maybe a good idea to distance yourself from these types of people.
To love yourself you need to surround yourself with those who are supportive of you and your actions.
#8: Wear clothes that fit
If you are squishing yourself into clothes that are too small, just because you want to be a certain dress size then this wont do much for your body confidence.
Just wear clothes that fit you, your dress size is not important.
#9: Stop checking your flaws
Believe it or not but no-one is perfect, we all have flaws and imperfections.
If you are going to be standing in front of the mirror analysing each part of your body then chances are you are going to feel unhappy.
#10: Tell yourself
If you want to love yourself then you need to tell yourself regularly.
Use statements such as “I am beautiful” and “I am worthy” throughout the day and you will start to believe your own words.
Remember if you want to lose weight, it should be for you, and for the right reasons. Don’t let anyone tell you that you are not worthy. And if they do, perhaps they are best removed from your life.
