No Carb Diet

No Carb Diet

There are so many different diets out there that it can sometimes be difficult to know which ones to try.

Currently, there are a lot of diets that encourage people to eat little or no carbs in order to try and lose weight. A no carb diet is where you eat a diet that completely excludes carbohydrates.

No carb diets have grown in popularity in the last decade, with famous diets such as the Atkins diet attracting a lot of attention.

Many people think that by cutting out carbs you will lose weight.

You can lose a lot of weight on a low carb diet, but it’s not something you should do on a long term basis as it can cause side effects and health issues.

The Ketogenic diet is another low carbohydrate diet. The aim of this diet is to get the body to burn fat instead of glucose for energy. When this is achieved more ketones are produced and the body’s glycogen stores become used up.

This is a very extreme diet that should be approached with caution as it could cause health issues.

The Dukan diet is another very low carb diet that has had a lot of interest recently. It’s a very high protein, low carb diet that consists of several stages.

What can you eat on the No Carb Diet?

Those on a no carb diet will avoid foods such as potatoes, pasta, rice, sugar and bread. Instead, people on a no carb diet will eat more fish, meat, eggs, nuts, dairy products, seeds and healthy forms of fat.

Going on a no carb diet is definitely not easy. It’s quite difficult to suddenly cut out all carbohydrates, especially if you are used to eating a lot of them.

It’s better to gradually reduce the amount of carbohydrates you eat than cut them out completely.

Some people find this too difficult and give up after a few days or weeks on the diet.

The key to dieting is finding a healthy eating regime that is sustainable. There’s not point cutting out carbs for two weeks, losing weight and then going back to your normal diet again and putting the weight straight back on.

Why are carbs important?

In a no carb diet fat is used as the main source of energy along with protein. If you are thinking of going on a low or no carb diet then you need to make sure you know the facts before embarking on such an extreme diet challenge.

There might be numerous benefits to going on a no carb diet, but there are also many drawbacks.

Do not go on any extreme diet without consulting your doctor or a health professional, you need to determine whether it’s safe for you to cut certain things out of your diet.

Generally speaking, it’s best not to cut any of the major food groups out of your diet as they all serve an important purpose.

The best thing you can do is eat a healthy, balanced diet which consists of all the key food types and nutrients.

There is a common assumption that eating carbohydrates makes you fat. This is only true if you eat them in excess. Carbohydrates are an important part of a healthy balanced diet.

Carbohydrates are the primary source of energy in the body and they are important for a number of reasons. They are basically fuel for your body because they contain glucose.

Protein and fat can be used for energy but they are not as good as carbs.

Carbs can also promote the production of serotonin which is a chemical in your brain that makes you feel good. Wholegrain carbohydrates are also important because they contain fibre which is needed for a healthy bowel.

Lose weightWe also need carbohydrates to enable our brain to function. This is why you shouldn’t follow a zero carb diet for long periods of time, because if you don’t get enough carbs your brain won’t have enough glucose to function properly.

If you follow a no carb diet on a long term basis you could suffer from constipation, dizziness, poor concentration and headaches as well as generally lacking in energy.

An alternative to completely cutting out carbs is simply to eat them in moderation and make sure you are eating the right type of carbs. For example, try and eat whole grain carbs such as brown rice and pasta rather than the white varieties.

Eating slow release carbs such as oats for breakfast before doing exercise can actually help you to burn more fat.

Of course there is no point going on a no carb or any diet without doing any exercise. You might lose a bit of weight but you won’t be fit, healthy and toned.

Diet and exercise go hand in hand, so if you are going to start a diet then you need an exercise plan too.

If you want to see a real difference in your physique then you will need to exercise at least three times a week, ideally four or five if possible (depending on your fitness levels).

If you want to lose weight the best thing to do is to work with a health professional or personal trainer who can give you advice that is specifically tailored to your needs.

Another problem with the no carb diet is that everyone is different. Some people will be able to function better than others without eating carbs.

It’s also important to consider how much exercise you are doing. If you do a lot of exercise then it could be dangerous to cut out carbs. For example, some athletes need to eat enough carbohydrates to give them enough energy to do intensive levels of exercise.

A nutritionist or personal trainer can help you to work out what types of foods your body needs to function properly. No carb diets may work for some people but it’s not healthy to completely cut carbs out of your diet on a long term basis.
