Prevent Weight Gain At Work

Prevent Weight Gain At Work

It can be difficult enough trying to stay in shape with family and friend commitments, let alone the stresses and strains of your work life too.

It can be next to impossible trying to lose weight while at work with the constant temptations around every corner. No wonder so many of us blame their work for their recent weight gain.

So how can we overcome these temptations and prevent this weight gain at work?

Lets look at a few tips that you can put into action that will help you to achieve your weight loss goals without having to workout at your desk.

Tip #1 – Avoid coffee calories

You may be aware of the high calorie offerings at Starbucks and other popular coffee chains, with some lattes containing more than 400 calories even without the added cream.

If it all possible you should avoid coffee in the workplace, although if you really cant cope without it then it is best to make your own using skimmed milk and a sweetener rather than sugar.

Tip #2 – Eat a protein rich lunch

What do you eat at lunch? I bet it isn’t as healthy as it could be. Even those who choose to eat a salad will often add unhealthy extras like cheese or a high calorie dressing.

The problem with eating high carbohydrate foods is that a few hours later you will notice that you will start to feel hungry again, leading you to grab anything you can get your hands on. Often something from the vending machine.

Now instead of eating a high carbohydrate lunch you should eat one full of protein as this will help to slow down the digestion of carbohydrates, meaning you will stay fuller for longer.

Tip #3 – Get enough sleep

If you are not getting enough sleep during the night your willpower will be greatly diminished and you will be less likely to resist a high sugar snack.

You should try to aim for 7-8 hours sleep a night to help your muscles recover from the strains of the day.

In conclusion

These simple tips are easy to follow and implement into your daily routine, yet they are also powerful enough to make a real difference to your weight. Ensuring you not only prevent weight gain, but also help with your weight loss goals if that is your aim.
