Although I am not an advocate of fast weight loss as it is unsustainable long-term, there are sometimes times when you will need to quickly shed pounds, perhaps for an upcoming event or party.
With Christmas and the New Year celebrations fast approaching now is the perfect time to start incorporating a few of these techniques.
Just remember that you should never risk your long-term health in your effort to look good for a party. If you do not reach your goal then it is not the end of the world and certainly not worth risking your health.
Whichever approach you use to lose weight it is important never to consume fewer than 1,200 calories per day.
Basically if you consume as little as this then you are starving yourself, and while you will lose weight to begin this will only be short-term and once your metabolism drops to compensate you will stop seeing the results.
The lack of calories and minerals could also potentially lead to dizziness, fatigue, headaches, dehydration and constipation.
Here are a few tips to help you quickly shed pounds for that upcoming party without risking your health:
When you have a fortnight
If you have an event, but have around 2 weeks to get ready for it then it is certainly possible to drop a few pounds ready for it.
For a start you should cut out all of those snacks and your usual junk food, it should be doable just for these 2 weeks without too many cravings being suffered.
You should also cut out the soft drinks and alcohol too. Replace with water instead as it contains zero calories and can help improve digestion.
During these 2 weeks you should also change your workouts a bit to try and confuse your muscles, therefore helping to see better results.
Try to lift more weights and to workout as intensely as you can.
Other tips that you should consider include getting more sleep and to try and reduce your stress levels. Both can affect your hormones, which can cause food cravings to occur.
When you only have a few days
While it may not be possible to lose much weight in just a few days, it is possible to give the illusion that you have lost weight using a few simple tips.
For instance, if you drink more water and eat fibre, while also avoiding the consumption of excess sodium then you could reduce stomach bloating.
You should also try to avoid consuming too much artificial sweeteners, gum or other forms of sugar-free sweets as these can cause gas and a distended stomach.
Of course, these tips will work long-term too, but lets take it one step at a time.
