Despite your best efforts, for some reason you are not losing weight. Is there something that you are doing that is stopping you from reaching your weight loss goals?
Please read on and discover a few things that you may not have thought of that could be reducing your ability to lose weight.
#1: You are not sleeping enough
There are a few reasons why you need sleep if you wish to achieve your weight loss goals.
For a start, if you are tired you wont have the energy you need to exercise, plus will be more likely to reach for a snack or energy drink in an attempt to boost your energy levels.
A lack of sleep can also have a negative effect on your hormone levels too, which will result in you experience more food cravings.
If possible you should aim to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night.
#2: You try to out-exercise a bad diet
Some so-called experts will tell you that if you are working out you can eat whatever you want. But the reality is that you are never going to see the best results with this approach.
The truth is that you need both exercise and a good diet to succeed.
#3: You are starving yourself
You may think that dramatically cutting your daily calorie intake would be a good way to lose weight, but the opposite is likely to be true.
While you may lose weight to begin, before long your metabolism will slow, along with the weight loss.
Starving yourself will also leave you craving food, which when you eventually give into the temptation will result in you overindulging.
As your metabolism is now slower this overindulgence will result in any lost weight being replaced as quickly as it was lost.
#4: You eat too early
While it may not be the best idea to go to bed on a full stomach, it is probably not a good idea to go to bed on an empty stomach either.
What will happen is that you will end up waking up in the middle of the night and raiding the fridge.
#5: You take calorie counting too seriously
Of course, being aware of what you are eating is a good way to lose weight. However if you take it too seriously then your diet will become too much of a chore.
When this happens you are unlikely to stick to your efforts for much longer.
#6: You don’t listen to your body
When trying to lose weight you need to listen to what your body wants.
For example, if your body is cravings your favourite food then allow yourself to have some. Denying yourself will only lead to overindulgences and the feeling that you are “missing out” on the things you love.
Similarly it is ok to miss a workout if you are feeling tired. You are not going to give it 100% if you are not feeling up to it.
Just remember that these should be occasional indulgences. Once they start becoming the norm, or a daily occurrence then chances are you are not going to be achieving your weight loss goals.
#7: You are obsessive about your weight loss
Stressing about your weight loss is never a good thing, and neither is becoming obsessed by it.
You do not need to be weighing yourself a few times daily, nor do you need to count every last calorie you consume.
Allow yourself to relax in the knowledge you are doing the best to achieve your goals. The weight will come off and you will enjoy it more if you are not stressed by it.
