If you want to lose weight then you need to be doing things throughout the day that will make a difference to the numbers you see on the scale.
For example what you do in the morning will have an impact on the weight you are able to lose throughout the day.
Lets look at some of these things you should do every morning for weight loss.
#1: Get some sun
Research has found that those who are exposed to the sun first thing in the morning had a lower BMI than those who did not.
It was shown that those exposed to the suns rays were able to synchronise their internal body clock, which would help regulate circadian rhythms.
In more simplistic terms, you are better able to regulate energy balance.
#2: Consume plenty of protein
To give yourself the best start to the day it is recommended that your breakfast choice includes a good source of protein.
There are a few reasons why protein is important for weight loss.
Firstly it is slow to digest so will keep you feeling fuller for longer, which will help eliminate those mid-morning cravings.
It is also hard to digest too, so will use extra calories to break it down.
Finally, the energy released by protein is not released quickly, so you wont experience those blood sugar highs and subsequent crash that occurs with faster digesting nutrients.
#3: Drink plenty of water
Did you know that your metabolism can be affected by dehydration? It has been shown to slow in an attempt to preserve fluids.
This is why it is a good idea to have a glass of water immediately after waking. You have after-all gone (preferably) 7 hours without a drink.
A study in 2003 published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism showed that drinking 2 glasses of water could increase your metabolic rate by 30-40%.
How many times have you skipped an evening workout because you had to work late, or were too tired after work?
By exercising first thing you can no longer use this excuse.
Plus, research has shown that you are able to workout harder and longer if you workout first thing in the morning.
Hopefully you can start to integrate these tips into your everyday regime. Once they become a habit you will be more likely to stick to them, meaning you will soon start to see the weight loss and health benefits of them.
