Thinsulin Diet – Colour Code your Food for Weight Loss

Thinsulin Diet – Colour Code your Food for Weight Loss

If you are trying to lose weight and have tried various methods only to find that the results were not as you had hoped perhaps a new approach is needed.

Take the Thinsulin Diet for example, this diet does not involve calorie counting but instead works by making you colour code your foods.

Each food is put into 3 categories; red, yellow and green, which makes this diet easy to follow as it is simple to see what foods can be eaten, what to be avoided and what can be eaten in moderation.

How does the Thinsulin Diet work?

Rather than focussing on your intake of calories like so many of the other popular diets, the Thinsulin Diet instead wants you to avoid foods that will lower your insulin levels, which will not only aid your weight loss efforts but will also help reduce the risk of developing diabetes.

Basically, by focussing on eating foods low on the glycemic index your insulin levels will remain low, so instead of burning sugar your body will be forced to burn fat instead.

What foods can you eat on the Thinsulin Diet?

While it seems simple, it is important that you know what foods you are allowed to eat on the Thinsulin Diet.

All foods are separated into 3 categories; red foods that you should avoid, yellow ones that you can eat occasionally and green ones, which should make up the bulk of your diet.

Examples of green foods are:

  • Most vegetables (except potatoes, root vegetables, corn, carrots and beetroot)
  • Protein; beef, chicken, fish, tofu, pork and egg whites
  • Lentils

Yellow foods:

  • Grapes
  • Oranges
  • Apples
  • Berries
  • Nuts

And finally red foods:

  • Mango
  • Pineapple
  • Grains
  • Junk food
  • Fruit juice
  • Soft drinks

Will the Thinsulin Diet work?

In theory this diet should work, however whether it is as simple as it is claimed is another matter.

Some foods are obviously a certain colour, but there will be times when you wont know what colour category the food should be in, which may make you doubt the simplicity of the diet.

After a while though you will soon know what foods can and cannot be eaten, and the diet will be much simpler to follow.

Perhaps if you are not seeing the results you had hoped for with a traditional diet, this could be an alternative.
