Is your diet ruined after your holiday? Get back on TRACK

With summer almost over you may be looking down at your waistline having realised that you have let yourself go a little, what with your all-inclusive holiday and all those barbecues you have had.

Well, you are not alone as a recent study has shown that as many 29% of holiday makers have gained weight while holidaying, with a third saying they planned on dieting once they got back home.

So how can you get your diet back on track? Dietician Amy Margulies suggests that you use the following technique, which she calls the TRACK technique.

T is for Thirst

This first tip is to make sure you are drinking enough, which does not mean soft drinks or alcohol, instead try to fill up on water.

The reason being is that often your body will mistake thirst for hunger, so to eliminate these cravings make sure thirst does not become a problem.

R is for Re-Think

In this tip you need to re-think why you wish to lose weight in the first place.

Make a list and try to be as specific as possible. By doing this you will become more mindful of your reasons and will become more committed to achieving your goals.

A is for Arrange

Before you go away on holiday make sure you order groceries for when you get back, just make sure to only order healthy choices.

The reason for this is that you will be forced to eat healthily once you get back.

C is for Cease

This tip is to cease your trips to restaurants once you return from your holiday.

Once the holiday has ended you need to take back control over both what your are eating and what you are drinking.

The best way to take control is to prepare your food yourself rather than buying food ready-made.

K is for Keep

This tip is to make sure you pre-prepare healthy meals in your freezer for when you arrive home, which will ensure you have a healthy meal option available.

This is perfect for those who are short on time or are tired after a long holiday.

Our final tip

Just because you may have gained a few pounds over the course of your holiday does not mean the end of the world, by taking the steps above you can get your diet back on track and lose those extra pounds in no time at all.
