Weight loss with the help of Viagra?

Weight loss with the help of Viagra?

Current figures show that there are over half a billion people worldwide either overweight or obese. Unfortunately these numbers are increasing all the time, which also means that the amount of people at risk of possibly life threatening conditions is also increasing.

These issues include diabetes and heart disease, but new research has shown that there may be a possible solution in the form of Viagra.

Now Viagra is better known as a pill used by men to get an erection, yet research claims that it also has the ability to burn fat.

What did the study involve?

A team of researchers at the University of Bonn tested the weight loss ability to Viagra on mice for 7 consecutive days.

After this time elapsed it was discovered that the mice had become resistant to obesity, even when fed a high-fat diet.

The reason Viagra was so effective was that taking this drug helped the body to convert white fat cells into beige fat cells, which is simple terms means that calories were burnt rather than stored as fat.

The leader of the study, Professor Alexander Pfeifer had this to say:

“Sildenafil (Viagra) is not only able to minimise erectile problems, but it can also reduce the risks of gaining excessive weight.”

“Beige fat cells burn the energy from ingested food and convert it to heat”

Unfortunately despite these positive results more tests will need to be carried out to find definitive proof that Viagra can help with your weight issues.

Until these tests have been performed it is not recommended that you start using Viagra in the hope of shifting that excess weight. Remember this research was performed on mice and the same results may not be shown in human studies.

Recommended methods of weight loss

If you are currently overweight and wish to make changes so that you are at less of a risk of premature death then there proven ways to lose that excess weight.

For a start you will need to start eating healthier, try to cut back on the junk food and takeaways. Instead try to eat a diet full of fresh fruit and vegetables, lean protein is also recommended as this is slow to digest so will help to keep you full for longer.

Regularly drinking water is also recommended, not only as it can help flush out those toxins that cause weight gain, but also because sometimes your body will confuse thirst for hunger, leading to food cravings.

Finally, to lose weight you will need to increase your activity levels. Obviously the gym is a good choice, but you can workout in your own home and still see great results.

Even going for a brisk walk every evening will be better for your health than sitting in front of the TV.
